How to bleach denim.

Many of us own old denim pieces in our closet, which we never use, they're probably too old or out of fashion, but what's worse than anything is finding the perfect pair of jeans or the best go to denim jacket and you hate it's color, so cheer up there is a way to lighten the denim wash and make your old piece or new piece wearable!

Preparations:

For the bleaching process you'll need:

A plastic bucket

Gloves

Spray bottle

Regular bleach

I would reccomend you do the activity outside due to the smell of bleach and the spritz of it, if not outside then in a balcony would be fine.

I also reccomend trying it with an old piece of denim ,one you don't wear so you know how the reaction goes if you'll be doing it with a new purchase.

Note:this bleaching technique gives an acid wash effect if you would want a plain blue wash find it in the bottom of th article.

Steps:

1.Wear your gloves before doing anything.

2.Fill half of the spray bottle with water and the other half with bleach.

3.Place your denim piece on the floor ,be careful with the bleach it may ruin your carpets or even your clothes so wear something you don't care about when doin the experiment.

4.Start spraying the bleach all over the denim, don't spray too much all at once, spray half of the bottle and wait for the bleach do it's magic, you'll see the color transforming in a magnificent way.

5.Wait for 20 minutes for the bleach to dry then turn the piece on the other side and repeat the process.

6.Once the piece is dry transfer it to the bucket and wash and dry the denim piece seperately the regular way.

As mentioned the result will give you an acid wash with different shades of blue, but for bleaching the piece into a pale blue color there's another method of dunking the piece inside a bucket filled with bleach and water and leaving it for a couple of hours, the more you leave it the lighter the wash.
